The treatments and medicines used here at the center have proved themselves throughout history time and again : acupuncture is thousands of years old, homeopathy is used by over a billion people in the world, Bach flowers are widely used by practitioners, mothers, fathers and even veterinarians on their most sensitive patients… Here at SRCA, we use our expertise in all these fields of medicine to provide you with the best possible care, tailored to your needs and the needs of your family.
“What should I expect for my first consultation?”The first consultation is often the longest. Whether you’re coming in for acupuncture, homeopathy, Bach flowers, or a mixture of the three an appointment at SRCA begins in the same way as when you visit conventional doctors. History taking, examination and investigation are all important in establishing the diagnosis. However, as well as asking about your symptoms, a we will be interested in you as an individual and the unique way in which your symptoms affect you. Traditional Chinese medicine also uses examination of the tongue and pulse in order to diagnose symptoms. Questions about your lifestyle, eating habits and preferences, temperament, personality, sleep patterns and medical history help to form a complete picture of you. This picture will be matched to the symptoms of your illness in order to prescribe a particular type of treatment, tailored precisely to your specific needs. As a guide: your first appointment could take anything from one and a half to two hours, with follow-up appointments typically lasting about an hour. This does vary depending on the the particular case of each patient.
“How do I prepare?”To get the most out of a consultation, it is helpful to make some notes beforehand and to think through all the issues that are affecting your health. New patients will be asked to complete a short form before their first appointment. This is a helpful way of saving time and to your advantage to do so if requested.
